For many years, we refused to sell English cheese. Sadly, the vast majority of the British cheese available to us was industrial and frankly pretty terrible. Neal’s Yard’s mission, “to improve British and Irish farmhouse cheese," filled that void. It took nearly a decade of persistence – annually we would reach out to NYD and ask to sell their cheese, and each year they politely declined. After years of proving ourselves, in 2016 NYD brought us into the fold. In 2024, NYD was the target of a major cheese theft that resulted in the loss of almost $400k worth of cheese. In the face of such a devastating setback, NYD remained committed to their makers, paying them all in full and absorbing the entire financial blow alone. We have never been prouder to work with such a dedicated and principled company, and we are honored to continue supporting their work.
